In any industry, lack of proper labor relations training among employees has adverse effects to overall success of an organization. Successful enterprises have known the value of services offered by their workers and hence do all they can to ensure their well-being. For sustainable growth, key aspects of employee well-being must be looked into and this calls for those in management to be well equipped in this area.

Since many organizations depend on the team leaders to mobilize workers and make sure competitiveness is maintained in the market, it is important for them to have people management skills. These skills should include bargaining tactics and especially where employee unions are involved. Through practice and experience, a trained manager can competently face union workers and come up with terms that are suitable for both the business and workers.

The key thing is to have employees close to the employers. Any organization should work hard to narrow the gap between the management and the workers. The workers must therefore be heard and their grievances attended to fairly and promptly. This helps greatly in union avoidance. It can be achieved by having them trained on their rights and procedures of airing their needs. Less trained workers always tend to unionize. This kind of training is also paramount for the human resource professionals.

With a closely knit working environment, cases of lack of work continuation are eliminated. This is because a favorable learning environment is created among workers. Those in senior tasks can effectively pass their skills to those below.

Cases of employee unrest resulting to go slow and strikes come as a result of the urge to express human expectations that have not been met. Maintenance of proper working relationships can help a lot in curbing industrial unrest. Poor interpretation of contract terms, a situation that can be eliminated by continuous labor training, is also among causes of disputes.

Without organizational assessment it becomes difficult for the top management to come up with policies which match the employee expectations. It is important to know that workers are the people who drive the productivity and hence their opinion is vital. From their observations, the leaders can devise strategies that are geared to meeting company goals.

In conclusion, it is one thing to succeed and another to sustain it. To enable a business to stay at the top in the market, labor relations training to all workers must be taken serious. Emphasis should also be put on the team leaders.
