Steroids, often known as anabolic steroids, were presented to the marketplace as prescription medicine that was used in connection with AIDS, asthma, chronic lung disease, skin disorders as well as poison ivy and were used to raise the quantity of testosterone in the body, which had dropped substantially as a result of diseases.

This was only permitted under guidance from a medical professional as steroids have various unwanted effects on the consumer, such as development of breasts in males, deeper voices for females, severe acne, and erectile dysfunction.

This, however, did not stop people from being drawn to steroids and soon it became popular for many sports people and body builders because it boosted their functionality and they were able to develop more robust bodies because of the testosterone in the drugs.

It has recently become quite normal to use steroids in many sports globally, but this soon grew to become illegitimate as it was seen as a way of cheating. This did not stop the usage but it certainly minimized it and we do not see it very often in our time, due to the frequency for drug testing steroids.

In order to perform drug testing for steroids it is common to obtain a pee example and analyse it through the use of Gas chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). This is a methodology which searches for remnants of drugs and it is conducted by separating chemical mixtures (GC) and analysing them with a very sensitive detector (MS) with a data collector. After this process the sample is vaporised and sent through the separating component to find possible traces of drugs in the sample. Urine samples early took over as the preferred way of drug testing steroids as they are easy to demand and easy to provide for the person.

Drug testing for steroids can discover most kinds of steroids and while a urine sample can provide results of usage up to several weeks if taken orally and up a number of months if injected. There are additional methods for drug testing steroids if the patient does not wish to provide a urine sample and as with many other drugs, blood samples are another option.

Drug testing for steroids now has become a essential part of the sports industry to discover more knowledge about athletes' using steroids, something which has been a difficulty in this industry for several years.

There is no tolerance for this drug anymore and if a test is proven to be positive it often leads to disqualification, something a professional athlete can't afford. However, drug testing for steroids in a workplace, colleges or in the privacy of a home has rapidly become another way of detecting whether a person is using steroids, because many feel it is simply reasonable to reveal this problem in order to work against it.
