The Magic of Words

Words! We use them every day but have you ever stopped to think about their power? Words cause people to go to war, help people fall in love, make people angry, change minds and change the course of history. When we consider all of this it is obvious that there is something very powerful about words. Some describe words as the currency of the mind. And, if this is true, are you word rich or word poor?

It's not hard to be word rich if you have a few guidelines. In fact, when you have the guidelines you will realize how obvious some of the logic is although you will no doubt find a few surprises. So let's start with POOR WORDS.

Here are a few you are no doubt familiar with. They include: Can't, Regret, Guilt, Victim, Reactive, Average, Acceptable, Stubborn and Perfect (Oh, yes! Perfect is one of the greatest excuses for not taking action as people wait to get it perfect, the perfect moment). The really unfortunate thing is that everyone is intimately familiar with the poor words! So what are some good ones? Let's take a look at some examples of RICH WORDS; Unflappable, Resolute, Resilient. Proactive, Reliable, Inspired.

The implication of all of the above is truly exciting because you can change the pennies, nickels and dimes of your experience into dollars in an instant. Change your words and you change your experience! And it's not that difficult putting this information into practice. In fact, here are two ways to use words like your own personal Wish-Granting Genie.

Use them on yourself. You should have no doubt that the words you use on yourself will have a greater impact on you than the words others use. There is actually a good scientific explanation for this: what a person perceives as his or her own thought is not resisted. Let me give you an example. Let's say that someone calls you "lazy". If you do not perceive yourself as lazy, you will resist that idea. You will discard it and the messenger as being off base. However, if you miss a deadline because you were procrastinating and then say "darn, I am so lazy", you will believe it as being accurate because it came from your mind! Therefore be careful not to feed yourself the poison apple of a poor choice of words!

Use them on others. I don't know if there is any connection between spelling a word and "casting a spell" but using words to impact others can be as powerful as magic! Consider how just a few well-chosen words can cause someone to buy from you or give you just about any other response you want!

Here's a great example I remember from a college football game a few seasons ago. The coach of a long shot team said "there are a million reasons why we can't win, there are a million reasons why the other team is better than we are, there are millions of people who are expecting us to get beaten bad.And that is why the word UPSET is in the dictionary!"

History is full of examples of the right words moving people to accomplish the impossible. This should make us wonder how much of what we think is "impossible", really is! Think of Kennedy when he told the world that America would send a man to the moon and safely return him to earth within the decade. Who at the time took him seriously? But, since this column is really about getting you maximum money and satisfaction from your business, you should ask yourself if you are using the right words to communicate with your clients and prospects.

Share your power words through many different mediums like toll free recorded message Hotlines, Voice Broadcasting, Free Report Mail outs, emails. Remember, Hotlines make sure you capture the identity of the person that needs to get your words. Voice Broadcasting allows you to get your message to the voicemail of all your customers efficiently and accurately. Report Mail-outs provide you with an automated way of getting physical reports mailed out for you in that all important timeframe. Put the Magic Power of Words to work for you!
