Injustices are exercised in every fiber of society. Many are the times when people are mistreated in their workplace by either workmates or even their employers. In such instances and many more, one would need the services of an employment attorney. Most of these problems could be solved with ease; all you need is competent representation in a law court or negotiations with your employer. The height of all mistreatment at the work place is when your job is terminated for one reason or another.

Unfortunately, discrimination is still one of the major problems in the work place. This could be based on skin color, religious affiliations and even gender bias. There is need to report such injustices any time they occur. With professional representation, everything can be solved with ease. Discrimination is not allowed be it of race or anything else.

Another common problem is severance agreements. Some employers include this as part of the employment agreement. However, they never seem to meet their obligations as expected of them. Thus, in case you think your rights are being infringed or simply do not understand how it works, seek professional guidance. The lawyer will explain everything in detail and even negotiate on your behalf.

Another area where their services are needed is overtime payments. These requirements vary from company to another and from place to place. In case your needs are not being met as expected or you simply do not understand them; seek the services of these lawyers. A person from the same state would be better prepared to handle the issue.

You could also make legal allegations against employers who do not pay you for overtime work. Most of them are very quick to allocate duties during weekends or evening hours. When it comes to payments however, very few are willing to pay. This case also deserves legal action.

Ask for references from people in your immediate social cycle. These could be your friends or relatives who may know of such lawyers. They could assist you in vary many ways, especially regarding the reputation of the practitioner in question.

You could also ask around from friends or relatives. A reputable employment attorney is sure to have created a good name in the market. Since these are common problems people face every other day, it will be easy to obtain professional services. Be sure to determine their level of expertise and experience too before hiring.

Where does the future lie for payment protection insurance?

| Sunday, July 15, 2012
By Kelly Schroeder

Payment protection insurance (PPI) is an insurance product that helps consumers to cover the cost of loan repayments should they be unable to do so through ill-health, loss of a job or an accident. However, it has been reported that as many as 80% of those who had PPI were mis-sold the product, causing them to pay insurance premiums for something they did not even need.

Designed to cover loan or credit card repayments should the consumer fall ill, have an accident or lose their job - making it impossible for them to meet their repayments - is their still a future for PPI? We think so, because already the Financial Services Authority has fined a number of banks and the Competition Commission has created new rules for the selling of PPI.

It is perhaps unfortunate that the mis-selling of PPI has made the headlines at the time when it is of utmost important to have protection against the loss of income that would therefore impact the ability to repay any loans or credit card bills. Despite the product being mis-sold to potentially millions of consumers, PPI can still support those who find themselves in the position of being unable to meet the likes of mortgage and credit card repayments.

One demographic who certainly should consider PPI are those who are self-employed because they are often unable to qualify for unemployment cover. As self-employment figures have risen since the recession began, there is certainly still a need for PPI.

Despite PPI's recent bad press, the future for the repayment protection is not looking bleak. Banks are working on where they went wrong in mis-selling the policy, and along with the new rules issued by the Competition Commission, such cases should soon be few and far between. Payment protection insurance remains a good product when sold correctly, so as long as the banks are able to restore the trust between themselves and their consumers, PPI should be around for many years to come.

The Scam of Scambook

| Saturday, July 7, 2012
By Sam Purner

It is a common human folly to stand in judgment of our fellow man. In Christian canon, this is well stated in Matthew 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Jesus himself also stood in front of an angry mob and said to them, "let he who is excempt of sin cast the first stone." And yet humans continue to judge others, even when ill equipped to do so.

Such is the case of scambook - a website that portrays itself as a "free community" - but is in reality a "free to calumny" site. The business model of this site is simple, and it can be compared to the typical bully taking the kid's lunch money under threat of a beating. If a business agrees to give scambook.com $500 a month, scambook will leave that business alone. However, once targeted by this site, if a business does not pay up, then they will be vilified by slanted reports of dubious source, causing that business a loss of reputation, revenue and public esteem.

The Better Business Bureau considers Scambook a scam

For a site that advertises itself as a defender of business ethics, Scambook actually has an F rating with the BBB! It also gets a "not accredited" listing, and an alert is even put on the BBB webpage!

How Scambook targets companies

This predator site locates companies that depend on their reputations in order to conduct business. Normally, the usual target is made up of companies that come with a membership model; in other words, the business that demands that members fork over a monthly fee as a trade-off for a service. The site then initiates a planned mudslinging effort toward that company or website. One such entity was targeted to the point that its owner committed suicide. Another began an entire site committed to battling this bad egg: 'Scambookscam'.

I really know of a site that owns a perfect BBB rating, comes with thousands of positive testimonials and even gets no complaints on the more credible complaint sites such as "Complaintsboard" and "Ripoffreport". Said site, though, has abruptly begun getting dozens of complaints each and every month!

Complaints not validated, and never removed

A business owner went through the trouble of paying Scambook the $500/month fee and then contacting the person who complained about them, addressing their concerns and resolving the problem. Even then, this crooked operation did not take down the complaint - claiming "it is not our policy or practice to ever take down complaints."

Unsurprisingly, a Scambook class action is starting against this opportunist. More than 200 Scambook complaints have already been grouped together. If you've been victimized by this site, I encourage you to join the lawsuit against Scambook.

Best 3 Books On Real Estate

| Monday, July 2, 2012
By Len Dietrich

Best three books on real estate are some of the most common ones but for unrelated, various reasons. Most books on real estate only give anecdotal information and, with the laws varying from state to state, can be difficult to apply to your career.

What I decided to do was to grab a few of these books, both hard cover and also on audio book. I picked up one from Gary Keller (of Keller Williams) Donald Trump & Dean Graziosi. I enjoyed them all but for different reasons.

First off, Gary Keller offers the most practical approach to any real estate agent getting started. He's one of the most popular real estate agents on the planet and has, in my opinion, one of the most successful brokerages in the US. All the information he provided in his book was applicable to me when I was getting started. His book is really for someone that maybe is a part of a small mom and pop office where there isn't much training. After one get's their RE license then few offices offer ongoing training. For the most part, you will have to go to your local board or MLS to obtain any relevant on going training. However, Gary's books are good and, like I said, give you valuable insight for getting started. I recommend his "The Millionare Real Estate Agent: It's not about the money...it's about being the best you can be!"

My next two favorites are Donald Trump and Dean Graziosi. Now, these are two polarzing individuals. Either you love them or you hate them. I happen to like them both.

For The Donald, I recommend "Trump Strategies For Real Estate". Now, if you are in a small market you won't find any real applicable strategies as most of the insight is from DT's experiences in NYC. The one thing that does irritate me about his books is that, from what I can tell, he doesn't put pen to paper and write the book. He co-writes with another author that he trusts. Now, nothing wrong with that but I want to hear the author talking to me. There was some valuable information in the book that I read and the insight gained from made me think in ways I had never thought of before. The way he structured and negotiated some of those deals is mind boggling. A very interesting read for sure.

Now, Dean is an interesting cat. If you look him up on line that guy is selling everything from cars to real estate. I like that he has a history selling informational products. One interesting thing I learned from him was that he shared with me how to buy tax liens. A very interesting concept and one that is easy to implement. Well worth reading.

All in all, none of these books gave a step by step process to getting started as a real estate agent and, honestly, I don't believe any book on the market will give you those tips and tricks encompassed in one book. However, I have found that they are practical in the advice offered. If I had to pick the best of the three I would recommened Gary's books as a first read. You really can't go wrong. Especially for the agent that is looking to brush up on some fresh concepts or the new agent looking to get started. The Donald and Dean are good for the real estate investor looking for additional strategies. I enjoyed those for different reasons that I applied to my real estate investing career.

With whistleblower software, employees are beginning to report issues pertaining company activities more frequently. The anonymity of this program ensures the source is kept secret. By doing so, the identity of the employee is protected, therefore shielding them from retaliatory tactics from the employer. This is a way of ensuring that companies that they are working for uphold their rights with respect.

Many governments all over the globe are faced with challenges brought about by companies that do not care about the welfare of its employees. This program ensures the government keeps track of illegal activities going on within the company. Many companies have had their working permits terminated due to cases of work violations. Some have had to go to court to face prosecution charges.

In the event that workers experience bad working conditions, a reporting to the relevant authorities is enough to ensure that their concerns and complaints are dealt with. There are instances where the employers pay little or no attention to workers complaint concerning working conditions. This therefore makes it necessary to have this program to ensure the right authorities deal with the company.

Improper working conditions are also a matter of great concern. Workers who work under demanding conditions have the opportunity to get their complaints heard and solved immediately. This is because some companies do not pay attention to complaints raised by workers, therefore leaving them to suffer.
